Faunus

A sustainable fashion brand responsive website design

Project Overview

It’s no secret that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world. As global warming rises and natural resources are in decline, sustainable fashion has gained a lot of attention. Faunus is a sustainable fashion brand that uses recycled plastic bottles to create clothing fabrics.

In ancient Roman religion and myth, Faunus [ˈfau̯nʊs] was the horned god of the forest, plains, and fields.

Goal

Therefore, my primary goal was to create a design that is friendly and encourages those users who want to be environmentally friendly.

Design Process

1. RESEARCH

To understand the user’s need, I interview 8 users. Our survey and interview results showed that our target users valued reliability, transparency, and quality over priceDue to these factors, some people have decided to switch to sustainable products.

2. PLANNING

The Challenge

After analyzing all of our research, I started to understand our main project’s challenge:

How do we convince people to choose sustainable clothes over fast fashion competitors?

The Solution

In order to overcome these obstacles, we need a site that is transparent, useful, and inspiring.

Inspiration

Before beginning the design process, we sought inspiration from other brands focused on sustainability. The following websites gave us ideas for the design:

  • EVERLANE
  • MADEWELL
  • EILEEN FISHER

3. DESIGN

We began the design stage by creating Mid-Fis wireframes.

4. TESTING

Testing a design is the only way to know whether it is worthy. Our prototype was tested by 7 people.

5. ITERATION

The usability tests were reviewed and a few changes were made. Listed below are those changes.

Final Prototype

Here is my complete final prototype!

Learnings and Reflections

  • It was a great experience learning how to create a responsive website from scratch. As I learned, we can create meaningful relationships with your users that will affect the end result of our product in ways that we could never have imagined.
  •  Sustainable fashion has a huge positive impact on the environmental health of our planet. Prior to starting this project, I didn’t know much about sustainable fashion. Now I can proudly say that I know a lot.
