Redesigned the full site—from homepage to filtering and account pages—with a focus on improving the mobile PDP for a smoother, more conversion-friendly experience.

Project Overview 

Jonathan Y is a design-forward home lighting and décor brand offering modern, accessible style. I led the full website redesign, with a strategic focus on the Product Detail Page (PDP) to improve the overall customer journey, increase conversions, and better align with the brand’s visual identity.

Objective 

Redesign the full site with a mobile-first, conversion-focused approach—prioritizing the PDP as the key revenue-driving touchpoint.

Challenges

The existing website—especially the PDP—presented several experience and performance issues:

  • Inconsistent visual layout and weak brand alignment
  • Limited product imagery and no zoom or alternate views
  • Poor mobile experience, particularly around selecting product sizes
  • No support for recommending complementary products (e.g., rug pads)
  • Needed scalable, modular components to support growing product lines

 

Approach 

I began by auditing the entire site and using Google Analytics and Mouseflow to analyze user behavior. Based on data and business goals, I defined a UX strategy centered around clarity, flexibility, and ease of use—particularly on the PDP:

  • Enhanced Product Presentation: Added high-res images, alternate angles, and zoom functionality to build buyer confidence
  • Improved Information Hierarchy: Elevated essential details like dimensions, materials, and customer reviews above the fold
  • Add-On Product Recommendations: Designed a mobile-friendly, contextual module for suggesting essential add-ons (e.g., rug pads), with a seamless add-to-cart flow
  • Slide-In Size Selector (Mobile): Created an intuitive size selection interface tailored for rugs, optimized for smaller screens
  • Mobile Optimization: Ensured responsive design and thumb-friendly interactions across all PDP elements

Conclusion 

Leading the full website redesign—with a focus on elevating the PDP—I delivered a mobile-optimized, conversion-driven experience that addressed key user pain points and positioned Jonathan Y for future growth. Working solo as the UX designer, I collaborated closely with engineering, branding, product, and executive stakeholders to bring the redesign to life within a two-month timeline
