Canvello

An online home decor store website that specializes in selling antique rugs.

Project Overview

Canvello is an online home decor store where customers can find and compare different types of rugs, especially antique rugs, furniture, lighting, and accessories according to their needs and priorities.
The user can also see the favorite product in their room through AR, as well as a collection of room ideas that can inspire them.
Additionally, there are rug service sections that can be used for trading, washing and repairing rugs.

Problems

At first there were three websites that sold these products separately, but they had difficulties selling them online. The stakeholder asked us to design a website that would include all three of their products so that customers could shop online across the country.

Using various survey findings and user interviews as well as analyzing competitors, I was able to narrow down some common problems faced by customers while buying home goods online. Some of the problems were:

1. Navigation: These 3 websites were difficult to navigate because they had poor information architecture.
2. Filtering: User’s struggled to find a specific product due to insufficient filtering, so they didn’t purchase it

Competitive Analysis

Conducted with direct (50 websites) and indirect (30 websites) competitors

SWOT

Usability Study

The usability study was conducted with potential users, They were some of those I noticed;

1. “On the product page, it is hard to find the review and rating”

2. “I need more information about the icon on the product” (Appraisal)

3. “A more precise sale price should be provided ”

Then, I added some features based on user feedbacks and research to provide more flexibility for our customers:

               4. Comparison of two or three items

               5. Include additional product information in the description

reflection

Straight paths will not lead you to your goals!
Having limitations can help you become more creative! I learned that my job as a designer is to provide the best experience with the resources at hand. Due to the limitations of the contest data, some of the more ambitious and interesting design explorations were overlooked. However, what was submitted was a design that was strong, and it worked well with all the different ways instructors customized their tests.
In the end, I was able to meet all my goals, as well as make a balance between users’ needs and business goals.
